Axel E. Martínez Vengo acá de vez en cuando, buscando esos colores y esa calma que trae con los coros scateros y los instrumentos nacientes.

Es algo personal en lo universal de la música. El abrazo de un amigo en el sol de la media tarde. Favorite track: MarSch.

PaulyWauly This song has real magic - I only wish it were twice as long, so that I could dwell in the space it creates for longer. Favorite track: Friends of the Future.

about

Melbourne-based composer, pianist and vocalist Lena Douglas - best known for her work with electro-pop band Tetrahedra, art-rock 7-piece Tulalah, and as the co-founder of gender equality initiative YoWo Music - has launched her debut solo record ‘Friends of the Future’.

Featuring compositions written in 2020 as part of her Honours degree at the VCA, ‘Friends of the Future’ brings together influences from European jazz traditions, contemporary folk-pop, and the additive techniques of minimalist composers. Drawing from her love of artists such as Ethan Gruska, Phoebe Bridgers, Andrea Keller and Barney McCall, Lena has created an album full of warmth, intricacy and hope.

Brought to life by some of Melbourne’s most talented musicians, expect to hear uplifting melodies, delicately interwoven textures and progressive journey-like forms with the occasional moments of improvisational prowess and hard-hitting rhythmic energy.

Melodically-driven and impressionistic in feeling, ‘Friends of the Future’ is expansive, beautiful and cathartic, ultimately leaving us feeling warm and optimistic.
